What We Do
Community Cafes & Markets

The Community Cafe is open to any neighbor in need of a hot meal. The cafe in Fort Myers is open from 10:30am-12:30pm Monday-Friday and 9:30am-11:30am on Saturdays. Volunteers work in the cafe to prepare and serve meals.
The Community Market is a sustainable, client choice model for long-term hunger elimination that provides a choice and a voice for the hungry in our community. The market provides customers an opportunity to choose their own food off market shelves instead of receiving a box of food filled with items that may not be used. Significant waste in traditional food pantry models occurs due to people not being familiar with the food, cultural barriers, cooking methods available, or personal taste. Research shows the choice model cuts down on food waste by 50%, improves the use of resources, and instills a sense of dignity to those accessing services.
Food is the gateway to accessing additional support services that address the underlying causes of hunger. Clients who access the Community Market receive an assessment by a Case Administrator and are referred to a Life Coach for services and referral if needed. Many opportunities and resources are now made available to both individuals and families as the Community Market is often the first step for people towards action that will result in sustainable, positive life change.
In accordance with Federal law and the U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, we will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, or religion.
