URGENT Call to Action: Volunteers Needed for Mobile Food Pantries this Summer
FORT MYERS, Fla. (June 24, 2024) – As summer heats up, so does the need to support our community. Community Cooperative issues an urgent plea to individuals to join them in their mission to provide essential groceries throughout their summer mobile food pantries.
With the rising cost of living and economic challenges, many families in our community are facing food insecurity. Community Cooperative’s mobile food pantries are vital in bridging the gap, offering supplemental groceries to those in need. This summer, they anticipate an increased demand as families struggle to make ends meet amidst ongoing challenges.
“Our volunteers help us run the mobile. From giving out groceries, bagging produce, distributing meat, registering new shoppers, and even helping carry groceries to the shopper’s car, there is something for everyone. They are crucial to having a successful mobile pantry! ” says Enyah Thompkins, Food Pantries Coordinator at Community Cooperative. “It’s literally all hands-on deck. With their help, we are able to serve over 1,200 households a month. We couldn’t do it without them!”
Whether you can spare a few hours a week or help out once, your contribution makes a significant impact. By volunteering with Community Cooperative, you can directly support your neighbors and help our community.
