Sam Galloway, Jr. & Friends Soup Kitchen Benefit
15th Annual Sam Galloway, Jr. & Friends Soup Kitchen Benefit
Because of you, being able to feed our hungry neighbors is not a dream for me but a reality. As we approach our 15th Anniversary of the Sam Galloway, Jr. & Friends Soup Kitchen Benefit, I am so thankful for everyone who has helped Community Cooperative accomplish great things. Sadly, there is still a tremendous need. A need that continues to grow in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
Our reality in Lee County is that nearly 125,000 (17%) of our neighbors and friends are at risk for being hungry every day. Of that, one-fourth are children. The Lee County School District documented over 1,300 homeless children before Hurricane Irma, and 70% of its 93,000 students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Our homebound senior citizens are falling below poverty levels faster than ever and the demand for Meals on Wheels continues to be overwhelming.
This is the 15th year of our friends joining together to help those in need in our community because hunger and food insecurity continues to plague too many of our neighbors. Men, women, children and the elderly are struggling every day with hunger and poverty. I believe it’s our duty to step up and help those who can’t help themselves.
Community Cooperative is doing their part to end hunger and homelessness in our area by providing access to nutritious meals and groceries along with social and education services to ensure that a positive, sustainable life change is attainable for everyone who enters their doors.
I’m hoping you will once again join the fight to end hunger and homelessness in our community by gathering your friends together for a table at the 15th Annual Soup Kitchen Benefit on March 8th, 2018. Purchase your tickets here.
