Community Cooperative Ensures Holiday Cheer for Meals on Wheels Clients with 300+ Card Deliveries and Adopt-a-Senior Initiative
FORT MYERS, Fla. (December 20, 2024) – This holiday season, Community Cooperative is spreading joy by delivering over 300 holiday cards to Meals on Wheels clients. These thoughtful gestures aim to brighten the spirits of those spending the holidays alone, ensuring they feel a little extra cheer.
Community Cooperative’s Meals on Wheels program serves those who are homebound, many of whom may not have family or friends nearby, to celebrate the holiday season. Recognizing that the holidays can be particularly lonely for these clients, Community Cooperative and its volunteer program made delivering festive cards filled with warm wishes and holiday greetings a central part of their efforts.
“We believe the holidays should be a time of connection, not isolation,” said David Johnson, Meals on Wheels Manager at Community Cooperative. “These holiday cards are a heartfelt way to remind our clients that they are thought of and that their community is here for them. We are honored to offer a little festive cheer to brighten their season.”
A Meals on Wheels client shared their gratitude for the thoughtful gesture: “Receiving these cards really touched me. It’s comforting to know that someone is thinking of me. The holidays can be hard when you are alone, but this brought a smile to my face,” they said.
In addition to the card deliveries, Community Cooperative encourages the community to donate senior wish list items, which helps extend the holiday cheer to Meals on Wheels clients in need. You can provide a holiday gift or gesture of kindness, ensuring that no one feels forgotten during this holiday season.
