Community Cooperative Celebrates Older Americans Month by Honoring Older Adults and Volunteers
FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 15, 2025) – This May, Community Cooperative proudly celebrates Older Americans Month by recognizing the important contributions and needs of older adults throughout the community.
Through vital programs such as Meals on Wheels, Mobile Food Pantries, the Community Market, and Sam’s Community Café & Kitchen, Community Cooperative provides thousands of meals each month to help older individuals stay healthy, nourished, and connected. These services play a crucial role in supporting seniors who may be facing food insecurity, health challenges, or isolation.
Community Cooperative also honors the many older adults who volunteer their time, talents, and energy to help strengthen the community. Older volunteers are an essential part of the organization’s daily operations, from delivering meals to preparing food and assisting at distribution sites.
Many seniors not only benefit from Community Cooperative’s services but also give back by volunteering. Their compassion and dedication make a lasting impact, whether they’re serving meals, offering a friendly smile, or lending a helping hand. These volunteers prove that community support is a two-way street and that older adults play a vital and active role in shaping a stronger, more connected community.
“Our older adults have given so much to our communities, and it is our responsibility to give back to them with the care, dignity, and respect they deserve,” said Stefanie Ink Edwards, CEO of Community Cooperative. “During Older Americans Month and beyond, we are committed to ensuring all older individuals from every walk of life feel supported, valued, and connected.”
As part of this month-long celebration, Community Cooperative invites the community to support their programs that directly impact older adults. Donations help continue critical services that provide nourishment, dignity, and connection to seniors in need.
