FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Community Cooperative and Alliance for the Arts Launch “The heART Project” to Expand Access to Art in Underserved Communities
FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 6, 2026) – Community Cooperative, in partnership with the Alliance for the Arts, is proud to announce the collaboration and launch of The heART Project, an innovative initiative designed to bring meaningful art experiences into spaces where individuals may not otherwise have access.
The launch will be celebrated with a free community event on Thursday, May 14 from 5:00 – 6:30 PM at Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33919; RSVPs can be sent to Events@CommunityCooperative.com.
The heART Project aims to enrich the lives of residents in underserved, low-income neighborhoods by expanding access to meaningful, inspiring art and arts education. By cultivating creativity, cultural appreciation, and a stronger sense of community pride, the project aims to spark curiosity, learning, and opportunities where access has historically been limited.
At the heart of the program is the transformation of shared community spaces into living galleries. Beginning with Sam’s Community Café on the Community Cooperative campus, the project will feature a rotating collection of original artwork created by local and regional artists. This approach brings beauty, storytelling, and inspiration directly into everyday environments, making art accessible to individuals and families who may not have the opportunity to visit traditional galleries.
Beyond visual art displays, The heART Project will expand to include hands-on programming such as art education, art therapy, and integrated learning experiences that connect creativity with essential life skills like food literacy and wellness.
The launch of this initiative is made possible in part through the generous support of Tina Parker in memory of Clif Parker, whose commitment to expanding access to the arts is helping bring this vision to life.
“This project is about more than art hanging on the wall, it’s about access, dignity, and creating moments of inspiration and to broaden horizons,” said Stefanie Ink, CEO of Community Cooperative. “We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience creativity and connection, regardless of their circumstances.”
The organizations hope to expand The heART Project throughout Southwest Florida, encouraging other community spaces to incorporate art and create more enriching environments for all.
Community members, partners, and supporters are invited to join this growing movement to make art accessible for everyone, because creativity should have no barriers.
